“You never find an Alfa, the Alfa finds you” True indeed! The Speciale was accidentally presented to us when searching for an Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV. From then on, it was the beginning of an epic and detailed restoration where no history detail was left unrecorded. This journey starts with a red car, with black leatherette interior…but it was just the starting point.
Imported in 1961 by the then Alfa Romeo distributor for the North of Portugal (as well as Ferrari, Lancia, Jaguar) Mr. João Gaspar it was originally sold to a textile tycoon, in his early 20s, a man that was mostly known by its flamboyant taste in what regarded automobiles.
Later it 1964 it moved to the Mercedes-Benz importer, probably as a trade-in, but remained in use for two year before being sold in 1968.
The 3rd owner, kept it from 1968 to 2012, in the hands of whom it became a very well-known car in Oporto as Porsche 356 “killer” with proper bragging rights.
Not driven driven since the 1990. It was sold to the 4th owner, one of the most important Alfa Romeo enthusiasts in the Iberia that stored it until 2017, when we found it.
